“Hodori” by Darrin Chandler [8 July 2005 14:44 MST]
One of the side effects of putting things on web pages is that people find them. Well, I mean to say that people find things they aren't looking for. This happens pretty often, and sometimes it's pretty funny. This isn't one of those times. Not that it's tragic, irritating, or anything unpleasant. It's just not funny…
A while ago I wrote a brief review of Hodori Restaurant, a Korean place in my neck of the woods. Since then I've been gratified to see people find this review when they're looking for Korean cuisine in the Phoenix East Valley area.
But plenty of people come searching just for “Hodori.” Almost certainly they are
not looking for this restaurant. There's a slight chance that you know that Hodori is the name
given to the Korean Tiger mascot of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.
I'm bothering to write about this at all because I hate to think of someone out there having a hard time finding the information they're looking for. Maybe they'll see this instead. I do find it odd that my restaurant review would rank very highly on a search for something as common and famous as an Olympic Mascot.
