The OTHER Slashdot Effect by Darrin Chandler [25 October 2005 13:10 MST]

Recently Mark T. Uemura gave a talk. Among other things, he and his team deployed OpenBSD in place of some Windows servers. Well and good, and not horribly unusual.

Then Rodney Gedda misrepresented it horribly for Computerworld. Either Gedda or the IDG editors played cut & paste with Uemura's words until they made a whole different story. Also, the article appears to be an interview, when it's really just bits and pieces of the talk.

Then Slashdot got their hands on it and further distilled the most provocative bits of misinformation.

It's worth reading Uemura's comments. The truth recommends OpenBSD much more than the invective found elsewhere.
