Okay, so this isn't in the Phoenix East Valley Area, but I thought it worth writing about anyway. My wife would gush endlessly about Michael Mina's Aqua, and since it wasn't there any longer we decided to try Nob Hill, NOBHILL, or NOBHilL, or whatever way you want to write it. We made reservations well in advance, drove to Vegas, and arrived just in time to change and rush over. We needn't have worried about reservations on the Friday of Labor Day weekend, since everyone else seems to have taken the president's advice to stay home for the holiday.
We were seated and greeted promptly and started with cocktails and a traditional cheese fondue appetizer. It's hard to go wrong with cheese fondue, and this one did not disapppoint. Served with fresh crusty French bread, the cheese was delicious. I ordered sweet corn soup, which was also wonderful.
My wife's sister ordered bison, which was a special that night. I ordered rack of lamb, and my wife ordered seared tuna. My lamb was tender adn well seasoned. Unfortunately it still had a piece of foil stuck to it. Fortunately I spotted it in time and didn't ingest it. Marinated artichokes came on the side. There was a sauce for each that complemented the flavor nicely.
The bison was flavorful and rich, and the tuna was fresh and tasty as well. The tuna came with a side of truffle macaroni and cheese that was out of this world. I could've eaten a pound of it.
Afterward we declined dessert, being pleasantly satistied.
We enjoyed a nice Shiraz with dinner, and the tab was pretty high. But we had expected that. The food was very nice, though my wife says it's a notch down from her experience at Aqua.
